Introducing Octopus Energy

The opening film in our long-running recruitment film series for Octopus Energy. A warm, documentary-led introduction to the people, culture and pace of the UK's fastest-growing energy company, made to land with the kind of engineering, customer-service and operational talent Octopus actually want to hire.

Locations: Brighton and Slough, UK
Deliverables: Recruitment film series, social cut-downs

The brief.

Octopus Energy needed recruitment video that could keep up with how fast they were hiring. The brief was to communicate the culture without sounding like a corporate prospectus, to make the kind of films that would actually make the right engineering, operational and customer-service talent pick up the phone. Over the years, the brief has widened, from recruitment films into annual event coverage, and more recently into long-form podcast production.

Our approach.

We treat every project for Octopus the same way: tell real stories, with real people, and trust the audience to do the work. The recruitment films lean documentary-warm, capturing the engineers, operations teams and leadership you'd actually meet on day one. Octopalooza is filmed like a festival, because it is one. The Women in Engineering podcast is structured around honest conversations rather than rehearsed messaging. Same client, same principle, three different formats.

The outcome.

The recruitment films have picked up awards at the FIRM, ISE and Recruiter Awards. The Octopalooza coverage has become an annual fixture in Octopus's calendar. The eight-episode Women in Engineering podcast we created and produced landed with measurable impact on applications from the audiences it was made for. Most importantly, the relationship has held: Octopus return to us when the brief is interesting and the bar is high, and they've kept doing so for years.
